FLYING WOOD PENETRATED FOREHEAD

A Nepalese sawmill worker had to endure the pain of his forehead penetrated by a stick as big as a finger and over 1.5 meters, in Gemas, Negeri Sembilan this morning.

It is understood that in the incident at 8:50 am, the victim was cutting some board in the factory when suddenly the wood chip flew and directly pierced and penetrated the victim's forehead.

The employer in the factory contacted Gemas Clinic, requesting for an ambulance to send the victim to the hospital.

Senior Fire Officer I Kamaruddin Salleh from Gemas Fire and Rescue said they received an emergency call at 8:51 am and rushed to the scene with six members to help in the rescue.

He said a special cutting machine had to be used since the wood that penetrate the victim's forehead is too long.

"Firefighter needs seven minutes to cut the wood using a special machine to reduce the impact of serious injury to the victim as well as to minimize the pain suffered," he said.

The clinic staff also gave some help in the operation before he was sent to Segamat Hospital for further treatment.
