MEXICO BANS THE USE OF ANIMALS IN CIRCUS
Mexico City became the latest in the country to ban the use of animals in circus. The municipality supports the ban that carries a fine of USD 45,000 to USD 60,000.
However, the law which was approved on Monday would not apply in dolphin show, bull fighting games or the use of horses in traditional Mexican event called 'charreadas.
Thus, the management of circus is given a year to change their actions. Some states and cities in Mexico previously approved the ban and only allow acrobats, clowns and other circus activities.
However, the circus protested the ban and say they treat animals humanely.
On the contrary, animal rights activists are claiming that the animals in the circus are often left in a confined space with inadequate facilities and the animals are forced to perform.
