CHINESE MAN HELD FOR SELLING 'VIAGRA LIQUOR'

Chinese police have detained a businessman for selling "Viagra liquor" to people seeking an answer to erectile dysfunction. He was found mixing Chinese white liquor with Sildenafil, a chemical compound in medicines for treating such cases, before selling the needy stuff.

The suspect, surnamed Huang, owns a liquor factory in Jianshi county in Central China's Hubei province, state media said quoting Jiangshi police.

The local police is now trying to track unconsumed bottles of Huang's liquor. He brought sildenafil at $390 a kilogram from an online shop. Huang produced nearly 2,000 bottles of his product after mixing it with "baijiu", as Chinese white liquor is called.

Mixing sildenafil to liquor is illegal, and it can be dangerous for patients with cardiovascular problems, according to the police. He sold 1,170 bottles and gifted 810 bottles to his friends, police said.

Snake wine, which is usually a dead snake in a liquor bottle, is sold in bars and restaurants across China. This liquor is consumed for both pleasure and its supposed medicinal qualities that include medicine for erectile dysfunction.
