MH17 CRASH: A BUNGLED BID TO DOWN PUTIN'S JET, RUSSIAN MEDIA SAYS

Russia's state-owned TV on Friday wheeled out conspiracy theories to explain the MH17 crash, including one holding that it was a bungled attempt to down President Vladimir Putin's presidential jet, which was flying over east Europe roughly at the same time.

Putin had blamed Ukraine for failing to maintain peace, leading to the downing of the passenger plane.

Russia-24 TV quoted an Interfax news agency report as saying the logo on the Malaysian plane's wing "looks like the Russian tricolour"

Later reports contradicted Interfax and said Putin did not fly over Ukraine, much less around the same day or time as MH17.
