WOMAN FOUND ALIVE IN SHANGHAI MORTUARY FREEZER

 

A worker at a funeral parlor in Shanghai's Jiading district said she found a woman alive in one of the mortuary freezers when she had noticed the door was left slightly open, Shanghai Daily reported yesterday, citing the district's TV station.

The woman, whose identity wasn't revealed, had gone to the parlor early on Thursday morning and laid down in one of the freezers while covering herself with a quilt in what was said to be an apparent suicide attempt.

An employee at the parlor noticed that the freezer was half open and looked inside to see the woman, in her 70s, alive and unharmed, as the freezer was powered off.

The TV report said that the woman suffered from depression and had a history of suicide attempts.

Oddly enough, a similar case unfolded in Anhui when a one-month-old baby who was declared dead woke up crying at a funeral home before he was meant to be cremated.

The infant was sent to a local hospital where he died due to various internal injuries. Authorities revoked the license of the doctor who wrongly declared the baby dead.
