Every country in the world has it's ghost story of the horror of its own. Horror stories are usually carried verbally from one generation to another. In the Malay society, we often heard of such stories like 'langsuir', 'pontianak' and 'toyol' but how about in foreign countries? How does the ghost look like?

Let's take a look at 10 scariest ghost in the world.


Zombie

Zombies are corpses that rose from the grave. Apparently it has a horrifying imperfect body covered in blood. Hungry zombie crave for flesh of living things, including humans and animals. Zombies kill their prey alive by biting, pulling out the innards and ripping the skin layers. Anyone who is exposed to bites or scratches of Zombies will also turn into a zombie.

Aswang

The most horror ghost in the Philippines. During the day, it looks like a human which seems to be very quiet. At night it turns into a cruel and creepy creatures. Aswang is very strong and capable of turning into a giant black bear.

Yurei

Yurei is the most horror ghost in Japan. Pale-skinned, long-haired, walking waxing and surrounded by balls of fire called "Hitodama". Yurei usually comes back into the world to seek revenge. It 's always thirsty for blood.

Rugaru

Rugaru was originally a normal human. In it's 30s, he transformed into Rugaru without his awareness. When the person turns to Rugaru, he always felt hungry and eat anything in front of him. Until at one point only flesh can indulge his hunger.

Banshee

Banshee looks like a nude woman with creepy appearance and long hair. Banshee is a symbol of death. She will show up and cries at the back of people who will die.

Bloody Mary

Bloody Mary is the most horror ghost in the western world. Originally she was accused of killing her own son in a black magic ritual. The society at that time was very angry with her and tortured to death. To call the ghost of Bloody Mary, one can just call upon her name three times in front of a mirror.

Doppelganger

Doppelganger is the most horror ghost that can change its shape to resemble anyone. Not only the look and body shape, but it is able to mimic the clothes you wear and your behavior. It is said that, if you see Doppelganger, the time of your death is coming soon.

Wendigo

Wendigo story originated in the United States. This creature is tall, large, have fangs and looked like a wolf. It's life is in the mountains and forests. It needs to eat human flesh to live longer.

Incubus

Have a creepy look , horned and winged on the back. Always appears at night and it's target is young girls. Having found its target, Incubus will be having supernatural sex with the intended target to bear it's child. When bearing Incubus child, the fetus in the womb will cause pain and weakness to the mother and she will slowly die. When the mother died, Incubus offspring will be born in it's supernatural world.

Changeling

A changeling is described as being the offspring of a fairy, troll, elf or other legendary creature that has been secretly left in the place of a child. Sometimes the term is also used to refer to the child who was taken. The apparent changeling could also be a stock or fetch, an enchanted piece of wood that would soon appear to grow sick and die. The theme of the swapped child is common among medieval literature and reflects concern over infants thought to be afflicted with unexplained diseases, disorders, or developmental disabilities.
